Coming up are run-off elections for 13 district councillor seats and 5 mayor positions of autonomous cities in Thuringia. With over half the votes counted, the Lord Mayors of Weimar, Peter Kleine (non-affiliated), and Suhl, André Knapp (CDU), as well as the County Mayors of Weimarer Land, Christiane Schmidt-Rose (CDU), and Schmalkalden-Meiningen, Peggy Greiser (non-affiliated), are in with a shot of retaining their positions on Sunday's ballot. These crucial municipality races are slated to concurrently occur with the European elections, also taking place on June 9th. A total of 1.74 million Thuringian residents have been summoned to vote during the local elections.

The run-off elections in Thuringia include 13 district councilor seats and 5 mayor positions in autonomous cities, such as Weimar and Suhl. Despite the CDU's candidates, like André Knapp in Suhl, having strong leads, the final outcome of the local elections in Germany's Thuringia depends on Sunday's ballot. Additionally, voters in Erfurt and other municipalities across Thuringia will also participate in these crucial local elections, joining the 1.74 million residents already summoned to cast their votes.
