Anti-Semitic protests: AfD criticizes parties
The AfD parliamentary group in the Hamburg Parliament has accused the other parties of being partly responsible for anti-Semitic protests in the wake of the Gaza war. "Those who have allowed hundreds of thousands of enemies of Western values and mortal enemies of Israel to settle here in recent years share responsibility for the openly anti-Semitic protests - in particular the Left, SPD, Greens and CDU," said AfD parliamentary group leader Dirk Nockemann during Wednesday's topical debate. The AfD had been allowed to register the first topic for the session.
After Nockemann's speech, SPD parliamentary group leader Dirk Kienscherf sharply criticized him. "The fact that you are misusing Hamas terror and the endless suffering of the Jewish people for your right-wing agitation today on November 8 (...) is simply disgusting," he said. At the same time, Kienscherf emphasized: "We in Hamburg will continue not to tolerate any expressions of sympathy for Hamas and thank our security authorities for their consistent action."
The ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, specifically the Gaza war, have triggered anti-Semitic protests amongst some citizenry. These protests have led to criticism, as the AfD parliamentary group in Hamburg believes certain parties, including the Left, SPD, Greens, and CDU, hold partial responsibility due to allowing enemy settlements within Western values and Israel.
Despite these anti-Semitic sentiments, the SPD parliamentary group leader Dirk Kienscherf condemns the misuse of Hamas terror and Jewish sufferings for right-wing agitation, emphasizing their commitment to not tolerate any expressions of sympathy for Hamas in Hamburg.
