Professions in the nursing field - Another group of trainees joining the care industry.
Recently, Saxony-Anhalt saw a higher number of apprenticeship contracts fulfilled for nursing. As per the State Statistical Office, 1542 nursing apprentices started their training on January 1, 2023. For the same period in 2022, there were just 1347 apprenticeship contracts. However, this number is lower than 2020 when the survey began, which recorded 1671 new nursing apprentices. In this year's batch, there were 384 male and 1161 female trainees. On average, these apprentices were 19 years old.
Training for nursing professionals began in 2020. Prior to this, the training for health and nursing care nurse, health and child nursing care nurse, and geriatric nurse were distinct.
By the end of 2023, there were a total of 4293 nursing apprentices in Saxony-Anhalt enrolled in the general nursing training. The first set of final exams happened in 2022, and 945 out of the 972 candidates successfully passed in Saxony-Anhalt.
