Another bomb find at Tesla factory in Grüneheide
Recently, a bomb was defused near Tesla's factory in Gruënheide. Nearly a week ago, another World War relic was discovered there. The perimeter security zone encompasses parts of the factory grounds.
The planned bomb detonation at the Tesla factory has affected both the factory itself and the forest camp set up by Tesla critics. The perimeter security zone, with a one-kilometer radius, encompasses the forest camp and parts of the factory grounds, according to Nico Bauermeister, the head of the Grüenheide town order office. The forest camp occupants were asked to leave since morning.
The detonation is scheduled for Wednesday. "As of the current status, we do not expect production to be affected," said a Tesla spokesperson. Only a small part of the factory grounds is affected, primarily a logistics area and a waste treatment plant, the spokesperson added. "Production buildings are not affected by the security zone."
The previous detonation a few weeks ago took place on a weekend when production was already halted. Affected by the security zone in the current case are the state roads 23 and 38, which are scheduled to be closed from Wednesday morning, according to Bauermeister. The Bahnhof Fangschleuse is also closed from 7 am, and buses do not pass through it.
The 250-kilogram World War II bomb was discovered approximately one week ago on the planned expansion site. The bomb cannot be transported and must be detonated on site, according to the town's statement.
The unexpected bomb finds near Tesla's factory in Greenheide have raised concerns about the local economy, potentially affecting both the factory's operations and nearby businesses. Tesla Motors is working closely with authorities to ensure the safety of their plant and the surrounding areas, as a similar bomb was safely defused a few weeks ago in Brandenburg.
