Ankle injury: Training break for Nuremberg's Flick
Professional soccer player Florian Flick will have to sit out training with 1. FC Nürnberg for a few days. The 23-year-old midfielder suffered a slight capsule and ligament injury to his ankle during last weekend's 2-1 draw against FC Schalke 04, the second division club announced. This means a training break of several days. Exactly how long Flick will be out for and whether he will be able to play in the away game at SC Paderborn on Saturday (13:00/Sky) was initially unclear.
Flick twisted his ankle in a tackle against his former club Schalke at the start of the second half on Saturday and had to be substituted early. A few minutes before the unfortunate injury, he had scored the goal to make it 1-1.
Despite the ankle injury, Flick still has a chance to contribute to 1st FC Nuremberg's campaign in Bundesliga 2, as his absence from training only lasts a few days. During their next match, an away game against SC Paderborn on Saturday, the team awaits his possible return to the field.
