Environment - Anhalt University of Applied Sciences: Millions in funding for ecology research

An ecology research project at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is being funded with several million euros. The project involves research into biodiversity in agricultural landscapes, the university announced on Thursday. It has been selected as one of ten nationwide projects by the German Research Foundation (DFG). A total of around 6.5 million euros will flow into the project.

According to the DFG, the aim is to "improve the theoretical understanding of the restoration of ecosystems and landscapes through innovative experiments in the dry and structurally poor agricultural landscape of Saxony-Anhalt". A center of excellence is planned, with which scientists from various federal states and countries in the field of renaturation are to be networked.

For the first time, the DFG is specifically funding larger research networks at universities of applied sciences and universities of applied sciences. The "Forschungsimpuls" projects will be funded from April 1, 2024 for an initial period of five years.
