Potsdam - Andreas Dresen and mayor unveil film boulevard
The director Andreas Dresen will unveil the first plates of a new film boulevard on Brandenburger Straße in Potsdam in the evening. In total, there are 55 square granite plates on which titles of films shot in the state capital will be named, as the city press office announced. Mayor Mike Schubert (SPD) is also expected at the unveiling.
Among the worthy films are classics from the early 20th century such as Josef von Sternberg's "The Blue Angel" or Fritz Lang's "Metropolis". Modern blockbusters like Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" or Wes Anderson's "Grand Budapest Hotel", which were also shot in Potsdam, are now immortalized on the boulevard. Dresen himself is also represented with his work, such as "Halt auf freier Strecke" from 2011. "With the Film Boulevard, we are bringing the film industry from Babelsberg into the heart of the city," Mayor Schubert previously stated.
Mike Schubert, the mayor of Potsdam, expressed his excitement about bringing the film industry from Babelsberg into the city with the Film Boulevard. Besides classical films like "The Blue Angel" by Josef von Sternberg and "Metropolis" by Fritz Lang, director Andreas Dresen's work, such as "Halt auf freier Strecke", is also displayed on the boulevard, located on Brandenburger Straße in Potsdam, where Mike Schubert is expected to attend the unveiling along with Dresen.
