ALower Saxony man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his partner in a stairwell.
In September of last year, something terrible happened in Verden. The story goes that the defendant attacked his partner before stabbing her repeatedly. When the 31-year-old woman tried to escape, he pursued her and kept stabbing her. The prosecution is claiming that this man inflicted a whopping 22 stab and cut wounds on the victim.
At first, the charges pointed towards manslaughter and it was thought that the defendant had some sort of impaired guilt. But the court spokesman later revealed that the chamber, after listening to the defendant's argument, decided that it was an act of murder driven by low motives. Interestingly enough, the fact that the man might have had delusions about being poisoned didn't seem to have a significant impact on the crime.
