Almost four and a half years in prison for politician's daughter Tandler in Munich mask trial

The verdict is in line with a plea bargain reached between all parties to the trial on the penultimate day of the trial. As part of this plea bargain, Tandler's co-defendant partner Darius N. received a sentence of three years and nine months in prison for tax offenses. Both defendants had largely confessed in the course of the plea bargain and paid the tax losses incurred.

The reasons for the verdict stated that the sale of masks to the federal government and several states had only come about through Tandler's name as the daughter of the former Bavarian Finance Minister and CSU General Secretary. In particular, she had used her private contact with Monika Hohlmeier, CSU MEP and daughter of party legend Franz Josef Strauß, to get into business. Tandler pretended to Hohlmeier that she wanted to do something good, but concealed her millions in commissions.

Tandler has been in custody since the beginning of the year. She is to be released for the time being after the verdict. Due to health problems, she has already undergone surgery while on remand and is now expected to undergo another operation.
