Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles Still Rule in Baden-Württemberg Streets. The State of Baden-Württemberg's Statistical Office in Fellbach (Rems-Murr district) reported a slight decrease in traditional cars' share in the region's passenger car fleet, dropping from 91.8% at the beginning of 2023 to 89.7% as of January 1, 2024. This change is according to data from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) and their internal analyses, as stated in the announcement. As of the beginning of the year, there were 6,924,840 registered passenger cars.

The number of all-electric vehicles soared from 165,383 to 229,556, representing a 3.3% share of the region's passenger car fleet. Electric-only vehicles made up this percentage. Hybrid cars increased to 6.4%, with 442,088 vehicles in total. The Statistical Office of the State estimated that about one in ten cars in the region had an alternative drive system.

The Commission is expected to issue implementing acts, outlining the specific application procedures for this Regulation, considering the shift in vehicle types in Baden-Württemberg. With the rise of electric-only and hybrid vehicles, the need for clear guidelines becomes increasingly important.
