Almost 10,000 refugees admitted to Brandenburg
In Brandenburg's municipalities, 9956 refugees have been admitted so far in 2023 up to the end of October. "In October, there were 934 people," said Integration Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) in the Social Affairs Committee of the Brandenburg state parliament on Wednesday. This means that the state is well below the admission target of 19,253. In the previous record year of 2022, around 36,500 people were admitted by the end of October.
At the beginning of the year, it was predicted that Brandenburg's municipalities would have to take in almost 26,000 refugees this year. In the summer, this so-called admission target was reduced to 19,253 people after fewer migrants arrived than expected.
Despite falling short of the initial migrationtarget, Brandenburg's municipalities have still facilitated significant refugee migration, with 9956 individuals admitted as of October 2023. This migration has required the cooperation and resources of various municipalities within the state.
