The Germany Alliance cluster in Bremen's Parliament (BD) is slimming down: Parliamentarian Meltem Sagiroglu has announced her departure. She broke the news to the faction and the party today, according to a statement. "My thoughts on cross-faction collaboration deviate from the encounters I've had since we joined the Bremen Parliament," it reads. Sagiroglu was a part of the faction for 15 months. She becomes the second parliamentarian, following Sascha Schuster, to depart from the faction. She intends to carry on serving as a member of the parliament.

In June 2023, the furious voter alliance Citizens in Fury (BIW) transformed into the Germany Alliance party. BIW garnered 9.4% of the votes in Bremen's parliamentary election in May 2023. With this tally, the faction was eligible to ten seats, but it could only snag nine. BIW parted ways with an MP elected to parliament due to their acceptance of "deliberate backing from individuals from the far-right extremist community."

After her departure, Meltem Sagiroglu might consider a period of personal reflection, potentially including a withdrawal from political activities for a while. The vacant seat in the Bremen Parliament left by Sagiroglu's departure could potentially lead to discussions within the Germany Alliance about a withdrawal of support for a member who was ousted due to ties with far-right extremists.
