- Alleged intoxicated operator of a food truck leads to multiple collisions
A suspected inebriated food truck operator, aged 62, was involved in not one, but two collisions. The incident was confirmed by the law enforcement officials. It was reported that the truck's hatch was left ajar and secured to the side during the trip.
Initially, the man rammed into a traffic light pole, causing significant damage. He then allegedly collided with a street sign a few blocks away. Subsequently, as disclosed by the authorities, he drove onto a grocery store parking lot and was subsequently apprehended by the police.
The immediate alcohol screening revealed a reading above 1.6 per mille. Consequently, a more comprehensive blood test was carried out. The estimated cost of the damage to the food truck was about 1,500 euros, while the police estimated the damages to the traffic light and sign at around 1,000 euros.
Following the collisions, the authorities identified issues with the transport and telecommunications systems in the food truck. The operator had failed to maintain regular servicing, leading to malfunctions in both the truck's GPS system and the communication device for emergency services.
