- Alleged assault on pet owner defends actions by asserting self-preservation
In a court trial concerning an alleged hostile action towards a dog owner in Frankfurt, the suspect allegedly defending his actions. He declared that he used pepper spray on the man once, and followed up with kicks and punches, as stated in his initial statement at the Frankfurt local court. He asserted that the 55-year-old had advanced menacingly prior and made "threatening gestures".
The 43-year-old is accused of causing serious physical harm, along with other charges. Prosecutors claim that in the spring, he assaulted the dog owner on the sidewalk, repeatedly using pepper spray, punching and kicking him while he was on the ground. Afterwards, they allege that he threatened to "stab" the victim and his accompanied several times.
Fractured ribs and injured eye membranes
"I was unable to see anything and could barely breathe," the now 55-year-old testified, recalling the ordeal. In the hospital, he was diagnosed with two fractured ribs, damaged eye membranes, and a dangerous lung injury called pneumothorax. He still alleges to suffer from the aftermath of the attack, with his vision affected.
Just before the attack, the 43-year-old is alleged to have cycled very close to the future victim on the sidewalk, who was out with his girlfriend and three dogs. As per the indictment, one of the animals got frightened and barked. The cyclist then reportedly stopped and attacked the dog owner. The trial is set to continue.
My friend expressed concern over the alleged incident, as he knew the dog owner involved in the case. Despite the distance, he attended the court trial to show support.
Upon hearing about the accused's threats, my friend decided to keep a safe distance and avoid any potential confrontations.
