- Allegations Shifted Towards the Sector of Metals and Electronics
Before the commencement of discussions in the metal and electricity sector, IG Metall Coast has presented their requirements to the union group Nordmetall. These discussions are scheduled to initiate on September 16 in Hamburg, as stated by the union. Approximately 130,000 employees in Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schleswig-Holstein, and northern Lower Saxony are involved. There's a potential for industrial action post-October 28, as the so-called truce period concludes.
The union's stipulations, which have been public since June, entail a 7% salary hike and a 12-month collective agreement. Apprentices will receive an extra 170 euros each month. Moreover, district head Daniel Friedrich emphasizes the possibility of a blanket bonus exclusively for union members, following a nationwide decision in the chemical sector.
Nordmetall has voiced objections to these demands. "Substantial income enhancements, as proposed by IG Metall, are unattainable for any entity amidst the most serious German economic crisis in decades," declared the deputy manager of the association, Peter Schlaffke.
IG Metall Coast's demands in the metal sector primarily focus on the Manufacture of metal, including a request for improvements in wages and conditions. To meet these requirements, Nordmetall might need to reconsider their strategies in metal production and labor management.
