All-day warning strike at Jena University Hospital
In the current collective bargaining round for the public sector in the federal states, all-day warning strikes are taking place in Thuringia for the first time today. The trade union Verdi has called on employees at Jena University Hospital, among others, to strike. According to the hospital, there may therefore be restrictions on planned examination and treatment appointments. However, patients whose treatment appointments have not been canceled can and should attend them. Emergency care is guaranteed at all times during the strike and an emergency service agreement has been reached with Verdi.
Employees of the University and University of Applied Sciences Jena and the Studierendenwerk Thüringen have also been called to strike. Temporary warning strikes had already taken place there on Friday. In the collective bargaining negotiations, the unions are demanding, among other things, a salary increase of 10.5 percent, but at least 500 euros.
The ongoing collective bargaining in the federal states has led to tariff disputes, with Verdi pushing for a minimum 500 euro salary increase. Moreover, the public service sector is seeing increased strikes, as evident by the all-day action at Jena University Hospital, which may impact some treatment appointments, yet emergency care remains uninterrupted due to an emergency service agreement.
