- Alert action taken against sweets manufacturing employees

Workers in the sweet treat sector of western Berlin are being encouraged to join a protest strike currently underway. The action commenced at 4 a.m., as communicated by a representative of the Food, Beverage, and Service Industries Union (NGG) earlier in the day. Hundreds of individuals are anticipated to participate throughout the day.

The invitation is aimed at employees of August Storck, Bahlsen, Cargill Lichtenrade and Reinickendorf, Stollwerck, Storck Chocolate, and Wilhelm Reuss. An assembly is planned for the morning outside Bahlsen's production facilities.

The NGG is advocating, among other things, a 9.9% wage increase - equal to a minimum of 360 euros more per month - potentially lasting up to 12 months. Apprentices, the union maintains, should also benefit from an additional 190 euros per month.

As per the union, employers proposed a two-phase rise of 3.1 and 2.6% in the first round of negotiations two weeks prior, scheduled for a duration of 28 months.

The Food, Beverage, and Service Industries Union (NGG) is urging workers from various foodstuffs companies, including August Storck and Bahlsen, to attend the protest strike. The additional wages the NGG is demanding include a 9.9% increase for regular employees and an extra 190 euros per month for apprentices.
