- Alba employee Himar Ojeda expressed that the summer was challenging for him.
Alba Berlin's sports director Himar Ojeda had a tough summer, despite no major setbacks like the previous year. "It was still difficult due to our experiments and some disappointing scenarios where things didn't pan out as planned," the Spanish figure shared with rbb. "We lost players we wished to retain and didn't acquire those we desired. But it was still better than the previous summer."
The team's skipper and guiding force, Johannes Thiemann, along with key player Sterling Brown, departed. "We can't fill their void perfectly. Yet, we're giving our best," the 51-year-old, who also manages Alba's successful women's team's roster, stated. "I'm hopeful that many players and the team, post the major transformation last summer, are in their second year now."
A distinct circumstance overseas
The rivalry for the BBL's second position is fierce with financially powerful Bayern, and it intensifies further on the international scene in the Euroleague. "There are numerous clubs with big structures and almost limitless financial backing. Wins or losses don't matter for them, they always have funds," Ojeda pointed out. "But we're still striving to keep pace."
