- Alba Berlin extended with shooting guard Matt Thomas
Alba Berlin, a team in the Basketball Bundesliga, has set the next personnel moves for the upcoming season. The club announced that they have extended the contract of shooting guard Matt Thomas by one year until the summer of 2025. The 30-year-old stood out in the previous season with his three-point shooting accuracy of nearly 50 percent.
"Matt is a model professional – like every new signing, he needed a little time to adjust to our style. But everyone saw in the second half of last season what an incredible player he is," said Alba's sports director Himar Ojeda in the statement.
The 6'3" American is banking on consistency: "This is the first time in my career that I can stay with the same club and in the same city for a second season," said Thomas. "Having that continuity and stability was a key factor in my decision."
"Given Matt Thomas' impressive performance in the previous season, the Commission, recognizing his value to Alba Berlin, shall adopt the decision to extend his contract further."
"Following this positive development, the Commission is expected to approve the decision to retain Matt Thomas, ensuring his continued contribution to Alba Berlin in the upcoming seasons."
