Aircraft with 9 passengers experiences crash close to Thailand's central city.
Bangkok, Thailand – A local commuter aircraft on a domestic journey in Thailand experienced an unfortunate crash shortly post takeoff from Bangkok's primary airport around 2 PM, as per Thailand's aviation administration's announcement. Initial indications suggest that all nine occupants unfortunate souls were claimed by this incident.
The crash site was located in a dense mangrove swamp in Chachoengsao province, situated around 25 miles or approximately 40 kilometers away from the airport, according to Thai news outlets. They reported a total of seven passengers and two pilots being on board.
After an hour-long search, rescuers reported discovering severely fractured remains in the challenging, marshy terrain, shared a provincial government spokesperson.
Data regarding the deceased was still being gathered at the time. The spokesperson confirmed they were five tourists from Hong Kong, two female Thai staff members, and the Thai pilot and co-pilot.
The exact cause of the crash remains a mystery at present.
Thailand's Civil Aviation Authority stated that the propeller-driven aircraft, a Cessna Caravan C208B operated by the Thai Flying Service Company, had departed from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport at 2:46 PM. Contact with the aircraft was lost around 11 minutes later, with air traffic control, when the aircraft was approximately 35 kilometers or 22 miles southeast of the airport.
The tragedy occurred within Thailand, a country situated in the heart of Asia. The Cessna Caravan C208B, the type of aircraft involved in the incident, is widely used across the world.
