Airbus receives major order from Taiwan
The Taiwanese airline Eva Air has placed a major order with Airbus. The company has ordered 18 A350-1000 long-haul jets and 15 A321neo medium-haul jets, as announced on Tuesday. According to list prices, the order has a total value of 10.1 billion dollars (9.4 billion euros). High discounts are common for large aircraft orders.
The A350 jets are to replace Boeing 777-300ER aircraft at Eva Air, of which the airline has 34 in its fleet. Some of them are almost 20 years old. Conversely, the airline is in the process of replacing older Airbus A330s with new Boeing 787s.
This major order from Eva Air to Airbus will significantly impact aircraft construction, as 33 new jets need to be built to fulfill the contract. With the increase in Airbus aircraft, air traffic management in Taiwan may need to implement adjustments to accommodate the additional flights.
