Airbnb's Icons offer the chance to stay in the "Up" house or relax in Prince's "Purple Rain" residence.
A vacation rental company on Wednesday unveiled a special category called "Icons," which features extraordinary experiences hosted by notable figures in music, film, television, art, sports, and more.
According to Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, "Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination - until now." He added, "as life becomes more digital, we're focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we've created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth."
Some of the entertainment-focused Icons announced so far include:
- Fall asleep in the "Up" house: "Sleep in one of Disney and Pixar's most iconic homes. It even floats. Explore Carl's world in this detailed replica of his house, featuring more than 8,000 balloons. The floating home is located in the beautiful red rocks of Abiquiu, New Mexico."
- Get up close with Kevin Hart: "Kevin Hart is taking you into his members-only Coramino Live Lounge. Here, you'll join Kevin and his friends for an A-list evening that includes a tequila tasting and live stand-up comedy from the best comedians."
- Jam with Doja Cat: "Spend an unforgettable evening with Grammy-winning artist Doja Cat in an intimate living room performance, complete with her favorite songs and tracks from her latest album."
- Experience Prince's "Purple Rain" house: "Prince created the iconic house from the movie 'Purple Rain' but it was never available to the public until now. Explore his legendary home and enjoy an exclusive studio session with rare and special tracks from Prince's world."
- Hang out with Khaby Lame: "TikTok sensation Khaby Lame invites you to his hometown, Milan, Italy for a fantastic gaming experience. You'll stay in a unique gaming loft designed by Khaby himself, where you'll learn from Khaby and play Fortnite Battle Royale against him."
- Join Feid on his FERXXOCALIPSIS World Tour: "Head out on the road with reggaeton superstar Feid as he tours the world. Enjoy a week's worth of rehearsals, travel on his tour bus, and get backstage access for every show."
- Stay at the X-Men '97 mansion: "Live like the X-Men for a night by staying at the 2D animated replica of Marvel Animation's X-Mansion in Westchester, New York. Find your mutant abilities and even train in the Danger Room."
- Visit "Inside Out 2": "With the upcoming release of Disney and Pixar's new movie, you're invited to spend an overnight stay at Headquarters, the control center of Riley's emotions. Your host, Joy, will welcome you into her colorful world and help keep things in balance."
Other Icons feature an overnight stay at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris or visiting the home of Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor. Airbnb states that all Icons are priced under $100 per guest, but only a limited number of requests will be selected for each experience through a lottery system.
Additionally, Airbnb introduced several new features this week, such as making it easier for groups of guests to book trips together.
