Air traffic at Cologne-Bonn airport resumes

Flight operations at Cologne/Bonn Airport, which were disrupted by a protest action by the climate activists of the Last Generation in the early morning, have resumed. However, there may still be delays, the airport announced. Earlier, unauthorized individuals gained access to the airside area of the airport in Cologne/Bonn.

Around 5:45 AM, it was reported that two people had glued themselves to a driveway leading to a runway, a spokesperson for the Federal Police said. They were to be removed in the morning. Additionally, a search was underway for a third person who may also be on the apron, the spokesperson said. A hole was discovered in a fence on the airport grounds.

The Last Generation reports several actions at airports nationwide. In orange warning vests, two activists each reportedly entered the airports in Berlin-Brandenburg, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, and Cologne/Bonn.

They "peacefully expressed their resistance by displaying banners with the slogans 'Oil kills' and 'Sign the treaty'," the organization reported in a statement. "The runways were not entered."

Protesters from The Last Generation also staged an action at Bonn Airport, as their organization reported activities at airports across the nation. Despite being peacefully Present in orange warning vests, they didn't enter the runways but displayed banners with messages like 'Oil kills' and 'Sign the treaty'.
