Ailing Princess Kate makes a public reappearance during a parade in London.

A dapperly dressed Princess adorned in a white gown and a stylish hat exited a carriage to watch the happenings from a formal building. Earlier in a vehicle, she had traveled to Buckingham Palace with her spouse, the Crown Prince William, and their offspring.

Kate had unveiled her cancer prognosis in March. Her last public appearance was at Christmas. On a Friday, Kate disclosed that she would partake in the birthday procession - the first time since the revelation of her illness that she shared updates on her health condition.

"I'm excited to join in on this weekend's events with my family at the King's birthday procession," she announced, also mentioning that her cancer treatment would still demand "a couple more months."

An image was also distributed, taken earlier in the week in Windsor near London, featuring the Princess before a tree by a stream. "I'm making steady progress, but let's face it, anybody going through chemotherapy has their ups and downs," Kate further clarified. She hoped to make some public appearances during the summer. However, "I'm not out of the woods yet," she acknowledged.

Onlookers around Buckingham Palace celebrated Kate's presence at the annual ceremony on a Saturday. "I was overjoyed when I heard the news yesterday evening," teacher Angela Perry told the AFP news agency. "She's our future queen. She's crucial." The Princess's return to public life was described as "soothing."

Charles III will turn 76 in November. The birthday of British monarchs is typically celebrated with a Military Parade in June, provided the weather cooperates. Last year, the King, along with his sister Princess Anne, brother Prince Edward, and Prince William, had ridden horses in the procession.

Yet, this year, the King joined the procession from a carriage in full military attire accompanied by Queen Camilla. His 41-year-old son William took the lead on a horse, once more.

Charles is currently undergoing cancer treatment after the illness was discovered in him at the start of the year following a prostate operation. He had taken a three-month hiatus from public duties but returned to them starting from early May.

The news of Kate's cancer broke only a few weeks after Charles' diagnosis was announced. The specific type of cancer they both are dealing with was kept confidential.

The Military Parade takes place under stringent security arrangements. Opponents of the monarchy had planned demonstrations for the day, activists carrying signs with messages like "Not my King" and "Abolish the Crown" near Buckingham Palace.
