Agritechnica trade fair shows satisfaction with start
After a four-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Agritechnica agricultural machinery trade fair in Hanover is back on the upswing. "The exhibition grounds are fully booked," said Tobias Eichberg from the organizer DLG Service der Deutschen Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft at the start of the second day of the exhibition on Monday. "All the important manufacturers are represented. That's the full program."
And the number of visitors on the first two days was already high, Eichberg added. "This underlines Agritechnica's position as the global number one in the industry and follows on seamlessly from the last Agritechnica in 2019." The trade fair, which normally takes place every two years, was canceled in 2021 due to the pandemic, and the planned replacement date in 2022 was also canceled again.
2811 exhibitors from 53 countries are taking part this time, with almost two thirds coming from abroad. "There have never been so many," said Eichberg. This makes the trade fair more international than ever. In the afternoon, Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir and his counterpart from Lower Saxony Miriam Staudte (both Greens) are expected to tour the fair. The Dutch Minister of Agriculture, Piet Adema, has also announced his attendance.
The main theme of this year's trade fair is "Green Productivity", i.e. how to produce more with less use of resources. "Innovations are the key to this," said Eichberg. Such innovations therefore take up a lot of space at the trade fair, from alternative drives for agricultural machinery to new ideas such as farming in high-rise buildings or synthetically produced meat. The trade fair is open until Saturday.
Despite the global participation, numerous agricultural fairs across the world might feel a sense of competition with Agritechnica's triumphant return. Visitors touring this year's fair can also explore various agriculture-related fairs showcasing the latest innovations in sustainable farming.
