Undergoing Instruction, Developing Skills, or Educational Processing - Agricultural industry survey reveals numerous farms struggle with sourcing adequate workforce apparel.
Numerous enterprises in Lower Saxony failed to fill all their offered apprenticeship openings last year. As per a survey conducted by the Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Lower Saxony (IHKN), involving over 1500 companies, 48% of businesses had apprenticeship spots left unfilled. This represented a slight rise from the 44.3% from the year prior.
For 66% of businesses that couldn't fill all positions, the survey revealed that they received inadequate applications. In the business services sector, not a single acceptable application was submitted. The situation was also dire in the media (80%) and banking and insurance (76.7%) sectors.
One out of every three businesses received no applications whatsoever. According to IHKN, the number of businesses receiving no suitable or any applications at all has slightly decreased. Nevertheless, the deficit of potential applicants in the Lower Saxony apprenticeship market remains consistent. Neither the size of the company nor the presence of current apprentices or a collective agreement acted as motivators for applications.
IHKN CEO Maike Bielfeldt remarked, "Our Lower Saxony businesses are eager to provide apprenticeships." The new apprenticeship term commenced around three weeks ago, with approximately 19,500 positions still unoccupied. According to the Federal Employment Agency, the industries with the largest number of open positions included retail salespersons, salespersons, retail trade specialists, and logistics specialists.
IHK Niedersachsen represents the state association of the seven Lower Saxony chambers of industry and commerce.
The Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Lower Saxony (IHKN), responsible for the IHK, expressed the eagerness of Lower Saxony businesses to offer apprenticeships, despite having around 19,500 positions still open. The IHKN noted a slight decrease in the number of businesses receiving no suitable applications, as reported in their survey.
