Heavy machinery from a specialized company is set to begin the demolition of the partially collapsed hotel in the Moselle town of Kröv today. One fatality remains trapped under the rubble - it may take some time before their body can be recovered. The victim is believed to be the hotel owner.

One floor of the building collapsed late on Tuesday evening. Two people lost their lives, and the body of a woman was already recovered. Recovering the second body is not expected to be easy.

An expert inspected the site on Thursday and concluded that the building remains at high risk of collapse. It is also possible that it contains asbestos. Therefore, a 150-meter radius around the hotel will be established during the demolition process. According to police, demolition is scheduled to begin in the morning or afternoon.

Demolition will start at the gable end of the building, where the risk of collapse is greatest, a police spokesperson explained. They will then proceed step by step. It may take one to two more days to recover the man's body.

The police spokesperson mentioned that the demolition will likely cause further damage to the already destroyed gable end of the building. Despite their best efforts, the second fatality might not be extracted until the demolition process is nearly completed, leaving parts of the hotel completely destroyed.
