Silent remembrance - After the death of Arian: Church offers a place to mourn

A place for mourning will the evangelical church give to people after the death of six-year-old Arian from the Lower Saxon town of Bremervörde. The church of the Elm community - a part of Bremervörde and home to the autistic child - should serve as a "place of quiet mourning and remembrance", said Superintendent Carsten Stock of the Bremervörde-Zeven church district, on Friday. For this purpose, the church should be open from Friday afternoon from 17.00 to 19.00 hours and on Saturday from 10.00 to 18.00 hours. This was previously reported online by the "Nordwest-Zeitung".

A DNA match had shown that Arian was the dead child found by a farmer on a meadow in the Landkreis Stade during field work on a Thursday afternoon. According to police reports, there were no indications that the missing boy, who had been missing since April, was a victim of a crime. The investigators did not disclose the cause of death to protect the family. Arian had disappeared more than two months ago, on April 22, from his home. The police assumed that the boy had left the house on his own. The search, which involved up to 1200 helpers, was unsuccessful.

Superintendent Stock explained that four different stations would be prepared, where people could mourn in different ways and express "the feelings that move them". They could light a candle for the little boy or symbolically give him flower petals.

  1. The Elm community, located in the Lower Saxon town of Bremervörde, is where Arian, the six-year-old child, resided before his unfortunate demise.
  2. On Friday and Saturday, the church in Bremervörde, known for its tranquil atmosphere and being part of the Bremervöre-Zeven church district, will serve as a place of quiet mourning and remembrance for Arian.
  3. Despite the heartbreaking incident, authorities in Lower Saxony, including Superintendent Carsten Stock, assure that the cause of Arian's death will remain confidential to respect his family's privacy.
  4. In the spirit of remembrance, the church in Bremervörde will be open for children and their families to pay their respects and engage in various acts of mourning, such as lighting candles or offering flower petals.
