Traffic - After suspected shooting: Suspect probably intoxicated

A senior citizen who allegedly shot at a bus in Empfingen (Freudenstadt district) was legally in possession of the weapon. According to a police spokesman on Wednesday, the weapon was a live firearm. According to him, there were indications that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol. The result of a blood test was not yet available.

A 67-year-old man is believed to have shot at a bus on Tuesday out of anger. At least one projectile hit the bus, said the police spokesman. No one was injured. There were initially adults, several young people and a small child on the bus on Tuesday afternoon. During the incident, however, the majority of these passengers were outside the bus, the police spokesman said.

According to the investigation so far, the bus had to pass cars that were blocking its path after a traffic accident. It probably drove over the 67-year-old resident's green space and got stuck. The man is said to have been angry about this and then shot at the bus at least once.

Police officers arrested the suspect at the scene. He was to be brought before a magistrate on Wednesday.
