Weather - After snow chaos: Deutsche Bahn launches long-distance train routes in Munich

Following the severe onset of winter, Deutsche Bahn is gradually and sporadically resuming long-distance services at Munich Central Station, according to a spokeswoman on Sunday. This initially applies to the Munich - Nuremberg and Munich - Stuttgart routes, in both directions. However, there are fewer trains in operation and it is not possible to guarantee a ride.

Passengers should inform themselves about the status of their respective connection before starting their journey and postpone unnecessary train journeys until Tuesday or later if possible, said the spokeswoman.

Heavy snowfall on Saturday night had largely paralyzed rail traffic in large parts of southern Germany. Trains covered in snow were unable to start, trees collapsed under the weight of the snow and blocked tracks, and overhead lines were iced over.
