After shots at Trump: Biden calls for calm in political dispute

The former US President and Republican Party's designated presidential candidate Trump survived an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in the US state of Pennsylvania on Saturday (local time) by a hair's breadth. He was shot and sustained a minor injury to the ear. According to police reports, the alleged shooter was also killed, and two others were seriously injured.

"A time of testing lies before us all," said Biden in his speech. "Regardless of their strength: Our convictions must never turn to violence." It's now "time to bring it down," Biden added, looking at the conflicts in the highly polarized campaign before the presidential election on November 5th.

After the disturbing incident at the campaign rally, where Trump was narrowly escaped a murder blow, the Republicans expressed their concern and support for the US-President. Joe Biden strongly condemned the violent act, stating, "A time of testing lies before us all," during his speech. Regardless of their strength, he emphasized, "Our convictions must never turn to violence." The dispute over the political climate intensified in Washington, leading Biden to call for a reduction in tensions, saying, "It's time to bring it down." On Sunday, Temperance was notably absent in Donald Trump's rhetoric, as the focus remained on the serious shooting incident that took place during his campaign event in Pennsylvania.
