Public prosecutor's office - After shooting in Osnabrück city center: search for perpetrator
Following a shooting in Osnabrück's pedestrian zone, the police have not yet caught the suspected perpetrator, according to the public prosecutor's office. According to Alexander Retemeyer, spokesman for the public prosecutor's office, a 21-year-old man was seriously injured by a pistol shot through the palm of his hand early on Sunday morning. He was operated on in hospital, said Retemeyer.
According to him, the 21-year-old was walking with two other people in the pedestrian zone at around 1.45 a.m. when the group was approached by two men driving through the street in a car. They wanted to know where else something was going on, said Retemeyer. The car then drove on and turned around. When he drove past the group of pedestrians again, the passenger asked from the car: "Could it be that you just insulted us?" and at the same time pulled out a pistol. The 21-year-old then reached for the gun and the shot was fired during the scuffle. The bullet injured the young man's hand and lodged in the façade of a fashion store.
