After process termination with Alec Baldwin: Armorer demands judgment reversal

After process termination with Alec Baldwin: Armorer demands judgment reversal

The withholding of evidence raises doubts about the "integrity" of the entire procedure, it was stated by the attorneys. "Justice demands that Hannah Gutierrez Reed's sentence in the Baldwin case be immediately overturned."

Gutierrez Reed had already filed an appeal against her sentence of 18 months in prison before the Baldwin trial. In the new petition, it is stated that District Attorney Kari Morrissey had "repeatedly lied" to the court. Furthermore, she was "involved in the decision" to hide crucial bullets as evidence. The district attorney also withheld other relevant evidence for Gutierrez's case, including an interview with a prop weapons supplier and reports from state firearms experts.

In a spectacular turn of events, the trial against Baldwin was halted on Friday. The judge in Santa Fe, New Mexico explained her decision by stating that the defense was withheld bullets that might be connected to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. In her view, this withholding was deliberate and severely harmed the defendant.

During the filming of the Western "Rust" in 2021, cinematographer Hutchins was fatally shot by a bullet from a gun held by Baldwin. The same bullet also injured director Joel Souza. Gutierrez-Reed was sentenced to 18 months in prison for negligent manslaughter at the beginning of the year.

As the armorer on the film set, she was responsible for procuring props and blanks for the shoot. She accidentally loaded the deadly weapon with a live bullet - the origin of which, however, was never clarified.

  1. The defense argued that the delay in revealing the withheld bullets could potentially lead to a judicial reversal of Baldwin's case, given the significant impact on his defense.
  2. The process setting for Gutierrez Reed's appeal was underway, with Morrissey's credibility being questioned due to allegations of deceit and the withholding of crucial bullets and other evidence.
  3. Morrissey's involvement in the decision to conceal bullets as evidence and her alleged lies to the court have become major points of controversy in the 'Alec' Baldwin trial, shedding a new light on the 'Process setting'.
  4. The weaponsmith, whose interview was withheld, could potentially offer insight into the origin of the live bullet that was found in the weapon held by 'Baldwin' during the filming of 'Rust', leading to the tragic 'judgment reversal' if evidence is made available.
  5. After the trial halt was announced, speculations grew over the potential consequences for both Baldwin and Gutierrez, as a reversal of her sentence could significantly alter the course of events stemming from the 'Rust' incident.
