After missing a penalty: Stuttgart loses
After a strong start to the season, VfB Stuttgart have lost their second game in a row in the Bundesliga. Coach Sebastian Hoeneß's team were beaten 0:2 (0:0) at newly promoted 1. FC Heidenheim on Sunday evening. The goals for the hosts were scored by Jan Schöppner (70th minute) with his head and Tim Kleindienst (90.+4). Stuttgart's Silas had previously shot a penalty well over the goal in the 57th minute, leaving VfB's best chance unused.
The defeat in the final match of the tenth matchday meant that Stuttgart missed out on catching up with the leading duo of Bayer Leverkusen (28 points) and Bayern Munich (26). The Swabians, who defeated Union Berlin during the week and advanced to the cup round of 16, are now tied with Borussia Dortmund in third place with 21 points. Heidenheim remain in 13th place with ten points.
Despite Stuttgart's penalty miss, 1st FC Heidenheim capitalized with goals from Jan Schöppner and Tim Kleindienst, resulting in a 2-0 defeat for VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. This loss prevented Stuttgart from narrowing the gap to the league leaders, as they now share third place with Borussia Dortmund.
