Woman attacked - After knife attack: suspect in custody

A 31-year-old man, who is alleged to have seriously injured a 23-year-old woman with a knife on a Monday, is in custody. This was ordered by the magistrate, the Magdeburg Police Department announced. The man is being investigated for attempted murder. The 23-year-old woman is no longer in danger to her life and is being treated in a hospital.

The man, who is from Romania, is said to have attacked the also Romanian woman yesterday morning. This led to a large police operation in the Magdeburg district of Reform. The motives behind the crime are still unclear.

The crime occurred in the city of Magdeburg, specifically in its district of Reform. The 31-year-old accused, originally from Romania, is currently under pre-trial detention in Saxony-Anhalt for the knife attack. Despite the serious injuries, the victim, another Romanian woman, is now stable and receiving care in a hospital.
