- After Hotel Crash - Gathering for Worship
Five days after the hotel collapse that resulted in two deaths, rescue workers and residents of the Mosel town of Kröv are invited to a service (9:30 AM) and a joint gathering. "In our shared reflection and support, we face the events of last Tuesday and Wednesday," reads the invitation from the police chaplaincy. "Everyone is welcome." The service will take place in the parish garden in Kröv.
On the late Tuesday evening, a complete floor of the hotel collapsed. Two people died, including the 59-year-old hotel owner, whose body was recovered early Saturday morning. Earlier, a 64-year-old woman was found dead, identified by the police as a guest at the hotel. Seven injured people were rescued from the rubble. The cause is still unknown, and the public prosecutor's office is investigating.
"With such an operation, there's a lot of adrenaline involved, and it can also lead to traumatic events for the rescue workers," said operation leader Jörg Teusch in a preliminary assessment. The service offers them, as well as the emergency chaplains, the opportunity to come together.
"We remember those who became victims, we thank those who came as helpers, and those who waited and hoped, and we seek the strength that always allows us to hope," the invitation reads. After the service, rescue workers and those affected are invited to breakfast to share their experiences.
The police played a crucial role in identifying one of the hotel collapse victims. During the service, a speech will be given by the operation leader, Jörg Teusch, who is also a member of the police force.
