After death of seven-year-old: MP files charges
More than two months after the violent death of a seven-year-old boy in Bremen, member of parliament Sandra Ahrens (CDU) has filed a complaint. The complaint is directed against employees of the youth welfare office, as Ahrens announced on Wednesday. Ahrens says that the boy's father should not have had unaccompanied contact with him. The youth welfare office had not complied with its legal mandate to protect the child.
On the night of September 17, the boy was found lifeless in an apartment in Bremen's old town. The father is strongly suspected of having killed the boy. He is said to have inflicted injuries on himself afterwards. The father was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. The public prosecutor's office has not provided any information on the nationality of the possible perpetrator.
On October 6, the social deputation met for a confidential special session. Senator for Social Affairs Claudia Schilling (SPD) announced an independent external investigation. The results are to be presented to the deputation. Deputations are administrative bodies that only exist in Bremen.
The ongoing investigation into the child's death has sparked discussions in the realm of social affairs, with City Senator Claudia Schilling announcing an external investigation. It's crucial that such tragic cases involving children serve as a call to action, ensuring appropriate safeguards in social affairs.
After the filing of charges against the youth welfare office employees, there's an increasing emphasis on improving their handling of crime-related social affairs involving children.
