After chemotherapy: Kreuzer about to return to Hallescher FC
Niklas Kreuzer is about to return to training at third-division soccer club Hallescher FC after completing his chemotherapy. The 30-year-old defender was diagnosed with testicular cancer in August of this year and has been out of action ever since. "The final examination is due in a few weeks, which should pave the way for his long-awaited comeback," HFC announced on Monday. Kreuzer himself is eager to attack again. "The anticipation of my comeback drives me every day. I'm really looking forward to being able to concentrate mainly on soccer again from now on," said the defender, who is already doing runs and stabilization exercises.
Halle can make good use of the versatile defender in the relegation battle. After all, HFC conceded 33 goals, the most in the 3rd division. "Niklas' fighting spirit is an inspiration to us all, his return to the team is good for everyone. We will give him our full support on his way back onto the pitch, but we will give him the time he needs," said HFC sporting director Thomas Sobotzik.
Niklas Kreuzer's return to action in the third league with Halle FC will be much-needed, given that the team has conceded the most goals in the division. After his successful chemotherapy treatment, Kreuzer is eager to contribute his defensive skills back on the Soccer field for Halle FC.
