Traffic - After accident with two fatalities on A555 - investigation underway

Following an accident with two fatalities on the 555 freeway near Cologne, the public prosecutor's office is investigating two 20-year-old men on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter. Both drivers are also being investigated on suspicion of participating in a prohibited motor vehicle race, the Cologne public prosecutor's office announced on Monday. Two people were burned to death in a third car, a small car, in the accident on Friday evening. They have not yet been identified beyond doubt.

According to the investigators, the two 20-year-olds apparently know each other because they play soccer together. Their driving licenses have been confiscated. The Cologne police have set up an investigation team to solve the case. Witnesses are currently being questioned and cell phones and accident traces are being evaluated.
