After a "terrible" first half: Siwsiwadse saves KSC

He came on late, scored and now wants more: striker Budu Siwsiwadse scored after coming on as a substitute to equalize Karlsruhe SC's 2:2 draw against Rostock. But he no longer feels comfortable on the bench.

Bundesliga 2 - After a "terrible" first half: Siwsiwadse saves KSC

Thanks to goalscorer Budu Siwsiwadse, Karlsruher SC avoided additional unrest ahead of the explosive general meeting on Monday evening. The Georgian striker came on as a substitute after just over an hour in the basement duel in the 2nd Bundesliga against FC Hansa Rostock on Sunday and saved the hosts a lucky 2:2 (1:2) with his goal from close range in the 81st minute.

Siwsiwadse had already secured a 4-1 win for Baden against 1. FC Nürnberg with a brace shortly before the end after coming on as a substitute and now wants more. "It's not easy to get in and score," explained Siwsiwadse. "I can feel that I'm in good form." The 29-year-old emphasized that he would therefore like to be in the starting eleven for the upcoming match at Hannover 96 on Friday (18:30/Sky).

Before his goal, Rostock had dominated the game for long stretches and already led 2-0. Junior Brumado (16th minute) and Damian Roßbach (34th) scored for the visitors in front of 23,159 spectators, while Igor Matanovic (44th) reduced the deficit for KSC shortly before the break. KSC remain 14th in the table with 17 points ahead of Rostock, who are level on points. Both are one point ahead of the relegation zone.

"I always thought our opponents were dangerous," said KSC coach Christian Eichner. "That's why we have to take the point as a point gained and do a lot better next week." At the club's AGM on Monday (6 p.m.), four members of key committees will have to face motions to vote them out of office, including president Holger Siegmund-Schultze and vice-president Martin Müller.

Karlsruhe initially looked unsure of themselves against FC Hansa and hardly created any scoring chances. Brumado, on the other hand, gave Rostock the lead at the first opportunity after an assist from strong playmaker Svante Ingelsson. Then it was Roßbach who, left alone by the sleepy Karlsruhe defense, increased the lead to 0:2. Eichner said that his team's first half had been "terrible".

After Matanovic had reduced the deficit shortly before the break following a mistake in the Hansa defense, Karlsruhe got into the game better in the second half. But after a brief period of pressure, Rostock took control again. Then Siwsiwadse dusted off a mix-up in Rostock's defense to make it 2:2.
