AfD politician elected vice-chairman of the U Committee
AfD MP Jens Dietrich has been elected deputy chairman of the committee investigating the state government's personnel policy. In a vote on Friday, Dietrich received 38 votes in favor and 34 against, with one abstention. He therefore achieved the required majority. The AfD parliamentary group had previously sent its chairman Björn Höcke into the race, but he was unable to achieve a majority. The Thuringian AfD is classified by the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution as a confirmed right-wing extremist party.
The committee of inquiry is to clarify possible misconduct in the personnel policy of the state government. The background to this is an audit report by the State Court of Auditors, in which the state government was accused of systematic and serious violations of rules on the recruitment of civil servants. The public prosecutor's office is investigating the initial suspicion of embezzlement.
The AfD parliamentary group is represented in the committee investigating the state government's personnel policy, with Jens Dietrich serving as its deputy chairman. The Parliament has a role in overseeing the state government's actions and addressing potential misconduct, as demonstrated by this committee.
