AfD party conference confirms Chrupalla as chairman with just under 83 percent

Before the delegates, there was a great majority in favor of holding onto the model of the co-chairmanship. A proposal for the introduction of a single chairmanship among the delegates failed.

In his application speech before the delegates, Chrupalla drew a positive balance of the co-chairmanship with Weidel. The AfD is "as strong as never before," he said. He and Weidel had "calmed down" the previously strife-torn party.

Despite a proposal for a single chairmanship failing at the AfD party conference, Chrupalla praised his co-chairmanship with Alice Weidel, suggesting they had successfully "calmed down" the previously troubled party. In a stark contrast, only 17% of delegates voted in favor of changing the party's leadership structure, with Chrupalla turning 83 this year.
