- Advocates a calm and composed approach in the discussion on integration, proposes Philippi.
The head of the Integration Ministers' Conference, Andreas Philippi from SPD, advocates for maintaining a level head when discussing the integration of immigrants. In the ongoing discourse surrounding deportations and border controls, the Social Minister of Lower Saxony stated in an interview with "World": "I observes a somewhat overreactive, passionate response from politics following the elections in the East."
Philippi believes there's a lack of focus on possibilities. He said: "We also require an undeniably enhanced influx of immigrants into the labor market to address our demographic deficit. Nobody can dispute that." Philippi referred to unregulated, illicit migration as an issue. "Grave offenses should be penalized with severe consequences," underscored the Lower Saxony minister for social affairs, labor, health, and equal opportunities.
Since this summer, Lower Saxony has held the presidency of the Integration Ministers' Conference. In the "World" interview, Philippi proposed an initiative for integrating the labor market. In professions such as baking, IT, and cooking, immigrants should transition into genuine work and action more quickly, cutting down on time spent with authorities and paperwork.
Despite Philippi's advocacy for a balanced approach to immigration, some within the European Union express concern about the influx of immigrants. The European Union, being a collective of several nations, must find a consensus on immigration policies to ensure a harmonious integration process.
