Christmas - Advent singing in the state parliament at the start of the plenary week
Members of the Brandenburg state parliament kicked off the last plenary week of the year by singing Christmas carols together in the foyer of the parliament. The politicians were supported by the school choir from Hermannswerder Protestant Grammar School and the Potsdam Trombone Choir during the traditional Advent carol singing on Wednesday before the plenary session.
As a musicologist, Ulrike Liedtke, President of the State Parliament, was particularly involved in the singing. "I used to sing a lot in the choir," she said. The fact that a ticket for the Christmas carol sing at Union Berlin in the An der Alten Försterei stadium and not for the Advent carol sing in the Karl Liebknecht stadium in Potsdam-Babelsberg was raffled off among the participants caused some members of parliament to be perplexed. "That's a legitimate question," said Culture Minister Manja Schüle (SPD), who lives in Babelsberg. However, Schüle revealed that she herself was organizing an Advent carol sing with around 80 participants next Sunday.
