- Adolescent found guilty of homicide – appeals reversal dismissed
A 15-year-old, serving a juvenile sentence of eight and a half years for the alleged homicide of a schoolmate in Lower Franconia, has chosen to drop his appeal. According to his attorney, this decision was made upon his client's and his legal guardians' request. Various news sources had previously reported on this matter.
During his trial before a juvenile division of the Regional Court of Würzburg, his defense team had previously advocated for a conviction of manslaughter and a six-year juvenile sentence. Even with this conviction, the sentence would've been warranted, his lawyer added, referencing the withdrawal of the appeal.
At this point, the teenager is more focused on seeking closure and working towards his rehabilitation, his lawyer explained. This goal is more significant to him than continuing to contest the verdict. No appeal from the prosecution was lodged against the August 5 verdict.
This German defendant confessed in a closed-court trial that he had fatally shot a classmate of the same age on school grounds in Lohr am Main, Lower Franconia, during September last year, while he was 14 years old. However, he asserted that the shooting was not intentional.
The teenager, hailing from Germany, is currently prioritizing closure and rehabilitation over appealing the verdict. His act of homicide occurred on school grounds in Lohr am Main, Lower Franconia.
