Rail traffic - Additional train connections for the timetable change in MV
With the timetable change on Sunday, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will have additional local rail services. The state has ordered 1.2 million more service kilometers than in the previous year, said Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer (SPD) in Schwerin on Thursday. This corresponds to an increase of seven percent and is the largest increase in services since the mid-1990s.
According to Meyer, the RE10, which currently ends in Züssow, will be extended to Pasewalk (Vorpommern-Greifswald district). This means that in future the train will run every hour between Pasewalk and Stralsund, whereas previously this was the case every two hours. A new express S-Bahn is to provide a better connection between the Güstrow area and Rostock. From the end of April, a new RE50 line will provide an hourly service between Rostock and Neustrelitz instead of the previous two-hourly service.
