- Additional land for high-tech park near Magdeburg sold
In the process of establishing the Hightech Park for Intel's settlement in Magdeburg, the development of the land continues. The Bodenverwertungs- und -verwaltungs GmbH (BVVG) has sold 34 hectares of rezoned land to the Hightech-Park GmbH. According to the BVVG, these areas are adjacent to the 400-hectare site where US chipmaker Intel will build two new semiconductor factories.
The Hightech-Park GmbH is a state-owned development company based in Magdeburg, tasked with developing the park, which will span a total of 700 hectares. The goal is to transform the new site into the hub of European chip production, creating more than 3,000 new jobs. The BVVG manages former state-owned agricultural and forestry lands on behalf of the federal government. At the beginning of the year, it still managed around 18,400 hectares in Saxony-Anhalt.
The Hightech-Park GmbH will use the recently acquired 34 hectares for additional manufacturing facilities, contributing to the expansion of the high-tech park. With the establishment of new manufacturing units, the park is anticipated to significantly boost Europe's semiconductor production capacity.
