Additional budget funds for Anne Frank Center
The Anne Frank Center in Berlin will receive additional funding from the federal budget. The Budget Committee approved an additional 625,000 euros in its review meeting on Thursday. This is a reaction to the worrying rise in anti-Semitism in Germany, Green politician Bruno Hönel told the German Press Agency. "The increase in funding for important institutions such as the Anne Frank Center is a clear signal of our unwavering commitment to combating anti-Semitism in all its forms," he emphasized.
The construction of up to four barrier-free air raid shelters for Holocaust survivors in Israel will also be funded. The budget approved 470,000 euros for this.
The Anne Frank Center's increased budget of 625,000 euros is allocated from the national Household budget, as stated in the Bundestag's deliberations. This enhanced funding for the center serves as a Household's response to the escalating anti-Semitism in Germany.
