Roads - ADAC warns of heavy traffic on Friday and Saturday
Drivers should be prepared for full roads and traffic jams in Hesse before the holidays. Especially on Friday and Saturday (December 22 and 23), ADAC Hessen-Thüringen expects considerable restrictions on many main travel routes such as the A5, as the association announced in Frankfurt on Wednesday. On these days, Christmas traffic and rush hour traffic will come together and, as a transit state, Hesse will also be affected by high transit traffic.
The situation on the roads is not expected to ease until Christmas Eve (December 24). According to the ADAC forecast, return traffic is likely to start on Tuesday afternoon (December 26), but will be particularly heavy after the holidays on Wednesday (December 27). The fact that the major roadworks on the A3 between Medenbach and Raunheim in the Rhine-Main region are no longer taking place and the Salzbachtal bridge in Wiesbaden has been partially opened should have a positive effect.
The traffic club recommends finding out about the current traffic situation before setting off in order to avoid traffic jams. The car should also be winterized. It is helpful to take thermos flasks with tea and blankets with you to bridge longer waiting times in low temperatures.
