Interview - Actor Jonathan Berlin: That's really my name

Actor Jonathan Berlin often encounters the misconception in everyday life that he has a stage name. "It happens very often," said the 29-year-old ("Kruso") in an interview with the German Press Agency. "When I auditioned for drama school at 17, that was the first question the lecturers asked me. You get used to it, but I welcome every opportunity to reassure them that the name is real."

At the beginning of his artistic career, Jonathan Berlin initially wanted to become a puppeteer. He explained that he still benefits a little from this experience today. "For me, puppetry has always been a kind of cross between acting and directing, because on the one hand you look at the character from above, but at the same time you control or embody it. As I've been moving into film directing as well as acting for a few years now, perhaps this connection has been made. In the best case scenario, you breathe with the characters behind the screen when you're directing."

The 29-year-old, who lives in Berlin, can be seen on Saturday (8.15 pm) and Sunday (9.45 pm) in the ARD thriller "Die Saat - Tödliche Macht".
